I've created this forum area for dual sport cycle because of the many request. The dual sport cycle method of travel on the Great Western Trail lifts many of the limits for motorized travel in some areas of the trail and still allows for an awesome trip. I had a few contacts propose their trip this summer and it should be one of the hot areas of interest. However, please make sure you have the right gear to take on the Great Western Trail before you set out. The weather is unforgiving at high altitudes in July and freezing rain is common. Please post your proposed trip, make ready and progress here for all of us to enjoy. I'm sure a lot of helpful information will follow. Have a safe trip.

I am thinking of traveling this trail by Dual Sport MC this summer.  I will start posting information on the plans for this trip as they develop to include the route I will travel.  On first look at the provided maps, some choice of route is available in idaho and utah.  I have experience riding on the Navajo Nation.  If anyone has actually done this trip any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

BH

I'll be attempting it this fall with a few buddies.  Let me know how it goes.

Hopefully this will be the practice run for an Alaska to Argentina run in a few years.
