I'm currently looking to find any remains of Great Western Trail Associations anywere. If you have any information please forward to this board. Most contact information is defunct or non-existent.
Thanks Dwayne Rowland

Great News! The Great Western Trail Association is alive and on the rebound. I've been in contact with Mike Browning president of the GWTA and the board of directors are having meetings to renew the efforts for the trails future. We all are looking forward to a very robust membership drive this summer. Please join the Great Western Trail the greatest trail on earth. Thanks

Status Update! We have an internet home on a fast server now. The gwt.org site will get a complete update this summer and the GWTA plans on a membership drive to support the trail efforts.
We all are working with limited resources and any help from any source is very welcome.
Thank You for supporting the Greatest Trail on Earth.

Congress passed the National Scenic/Historic/Recreation Trails Act in March 2009.  The Act instructs the Dept of the Interior to study the potential inclusion of the Great Western Trail into the National Scenic Trail network over three years.  For inclusion in that network many features are studied, among which are potential trail usage, routes and condition of existing trail, scenic features, and very importantly, the existence and effectiveness of volunteer organizations for maintenance of the trail.  We, the users of the Great Western Trail, need to be effectively organized in order that we can present ourselves as the stewards of this great trail.  What about it GWTA?

Any updates?  Any information about how a person can get involved in this would be appreciated, especially as it relates to the Arizona section.
